Much like those initial steps into motherhood, the journey to this point has been a wild ride of unpredictable, inspirational, bank-account-draining and truly fulfilling adventures.
After 18 months of planning, designing, sampling (and re-sampling) and forming an unbreakable bond with Sam, our FedEx delivery guy, I'm absolutely thrilled to announce that Berthi will set sail into the world in a matter of days.
Born from the word ‘Berth’ -a safe space in a harbour, where a ship stays for a period of time. Berthi was born out of my own tumultuous start to motherhood and my desire to empower other women to have a different experience.
But as an example of the wonderful things that can spring from troubling times, an epiphany struck – brands seem to have a lot to say to us up until the big day arrives, and then we find ourselves in a wasteland where everything becomes about the baby. No longer pregnant and wearing maternity, but light years away from our former self - it's high time for a brand that fearlessly carves out a niche for postpartum women, celebrating her initial strides into the magnificent journey of motherhood.
So, behold Berthi – proudly postpartum and made to empower modern mums.
